Members of the Holtville High School Outdoor Club helped us out in a big way on Sat, 28 Jan '12 by bathing lots of our puppies and dogs; having fun with some pups out in the play yard and helping us reorganize our Thrift Store storage building! We certainly appreciate all the help and hope everyone also had a great time!

On 26 March 2011 four wonderful young ladies from Wetumpka brought us $43 they had earned from selling their first published “Neighborhood News.” They sold an incredibly informative, five-page newsletter for 50 cents each and we can tell you it was well worth every cent! We know that everyone in their neighborhood is anxiously awaiting the next edition and we are too! The young ladies responsible for all of this are Sadie and Carly Graham, Rebekah Rankin and Annie Cobb pictured here and for those of you in the media world – watch out as these are your future writers & editors! Thanks so much Sadie, Carly, Rebekah and Annie – you did great!

On 14 December members of the Tallassee High School National Honor Society brought our animals a truckload of food, litter and cleaning supplies! We were thrilled that they thought of our shelter and animals like this and want to thank every NHS member for donating two items each to make this happen. Representing NHS in this picture are (from left to right): Davis Knapp, Jessica Clyburn, Stella Burak and Abby Burch.

Savannah Rigby of Titus showed her love and support for our shelter and animals again on 21 Oct ’10 by not only bringing us a load of supplies from her birthday party, but $423.27 that she collected through her own fund-raising efforts!!!! That is simply stupendous and she brought all of this on her birthday to help our animals! Hey, Savannah – we may have a Marketing position open for you a few years from now when you are ready! J Savannah is not only incredibly generous to our shelter, she has some wonderful friends as she shared that Amber Rigby, Amber Jenkins and Kaylee Jenkins also helped with the fundraising. Thank you, thank you, thank you and we hope you had a wonderful birthday!!!

This super group of students from Macon East Montgomery Academy visited our shelter on Sat, 16 Oct to help us with bathing, exercising and just generally loving on a lot of our pets! We know our pets really loved the extra attention and we always look forward to these wonderful young folks helping us out. Thanks guys for picking our shelter to visit!

Five Year Old Sunny Stanfield of Millbrook surprised us on Sat, 4 Sep ’10 with this wonderful load of food and supplies to help our animals.  Being the true animal lover she is, she had asked her friends to bring these items to her birthday party on 28 August instead of presents – isn’t that something!!!  Our dog and cats thank you Sunny and so do all of us here at the shelter.  We hope Sunny had a simply awesome birthday party.

On 14 August, Cory Anthony surprised us by bringing $210 to help our animals. Cory had asked his friends to donate money instead of gifts for his 10th birthday on August 13th! Now isn’t that simply awesome!!!!! Cory – we want you to know that your donation is helping us take care of Soul, the Standard Poodle that came to us in horrible condition. With your help, Soul is staying at the veterinarian’s office where he can get all the care and treatment he needs to make him better. Once Soul is all well, we will then be able to help him find a home where he will be loved and cherished the rest of his life. So thank you so much Cory for helping us help this wonderful dog and we hope you had a wonderful 10th birthday!!!!

Dani Loeb of Lake Martin demonstrated the true spirit of giving on 6 Aug ’10 when she brought all of these donations to help our animals. What is even more special about this is that they are from her 9th birthday party held on July 31st! It truly touches our hearts when a child asks for food and supplies for our animals in lieu of presents! Dani said she wanted to do this because there are so many puppies and kittens without homes and she wanted to help so we could find them all new homes. Thank you Dani for being such a generous animal loving young lady!

On, Sat, 26 Jun 10, our shelter received much needed supplies that had been collected by the members of Boy Scout Troop 605 from the LDS Church in Wetumpka. Not only did all the boys want to help our animals, this also helped them earn their merit badge for Citizenship in the Community. Pictured here are Danny Coleman and Easterling Carpenter who were able to take some time to bring the supplies and well-represent their troop. Thanks to all the Scouts for thinking of us and our animals like this!

Seven Year old Owen Johnson of Wetumpka brought us all of these wonderful supplies on 19 June ‘1`0to help our animals. What is even cooler than that is that Owen asked his friends to give him these items instead of presents for his birthday! Now isn’t that just awesome! This is not Owen’s first time helping our animals like this and we think that Owen is just one super little guy for being so generous! Happy Birthday Owen!!!

Eagle Scout Project at our shelter by Mr. Jacob Garnett of Boy Scouts of America Troop #13 of Wetumpka- Thanks to his hard work and dedication our doggy play yard has undergone a complete makeover. As a result of his design, planning, and supervision the play yard fence is now covered by a beautiful wood privacy fence, we have three new benches and a brand new, 10’ x 20’ storage building to replace the two small and quite old buildings that had been there for years. This was no small project and Jacob has a lot to be proud of by completing this and earning his Eagle Scout! We are so lucky that Jacob picked us for his project and it has been a sheer pleasure working with him, his troop, and family, and this is a project that has greatly improved things at our shelter. Thank you, thank you, thank you Jacob and congratulations on your very significant achievement!

On 10 April 2010, Ms. Maddie Losik brought us a huge amount of supplies and even a cash donation to help our animals. While this is simply wonderful, we also want you to know that all of these supplies were from her 9th birthday party on 27 March since Maddie asked for supplies for our shelter instead of presents for herself. Now isn’t that just something!! Maddie – we are very proud of you and thank you and we know your parents are very proud of you as well! Thank you as well to all of your wonderful animal loving friends!

In December 2009 twelve-year old Savannah Rigby of Titus impressed us by bringing all of these great supplies to our shelter to help our animals! Savannah asked for all of this instead of birthday presents at her birthday party! Savannah told us her sister Amber, and friends Amber & Kaylee Jenkins helped as she brought us a load of supplies, food and $315.05! This isn’t the first time Savannah has helped our pets which just shows what a wonderful animal loving person she is. Savannah and her sister Amber are pictured here along with our office kitty, Miss Scarlet, who is probably looking for “her” treats!

On 21 Nov '09 the wonderful Cadettes and Juniors from the Holtville Girl Scout Troop 9010 brought us much needed supplies and spent some of their time helping us bath puppies and generally playing with and giving attention to our lucky dogs, puppies, cats and kittens. We certainly appreciate Marcy Perdue and Susan Grimes for helping teach these young girls the power of volunteering and we know we will see them again in the future.
